Philosophy and Practice
Marshall Architecture & Design focuses on a collaborative design process -- which is unique to each client’s needs. We specialize in remodeling and the design of new custom homes and commercial spaces. We work with you to set and achieve design goals, as well as navigate smoothly through the complexities of taking a project from paper to reality.
Marshall Architecture & Design is always eager to incorporate a green approach. It can start with site planning for new buildings or looking at the benefits of adaptive reuse when remodeling an older building or house. Our approach continues through specifying the use of renewable, sustainably harvested and healthy materials for your home.
About
Sarah Marshall hails from the Midwest and graduated from Ball State University’s College of Architecture in 1995. Her professional experience began in New York under the tutelage of Carol Maryan Architects, learning to mix old and new within the confines of brownstones and highrises. Working in Chicago gave her the opportunity to work with a team of architects, engineers and developers on new neighborhood scale affordable housing. San Francisco, with it’s diverse topography is matched with its population, offered a place to work on mixed use, multi-family buildings, live-work lofts, historic renovations, new and remodeled homes, as well as a range of small commercial spaces. With fifteen years of professional experience in the discipline of architecture, Marshall founded her own design firm in 2010.
Sarah Marshall is registered with the California Board of Architectural Examiners.
Learning and Educational Programs
Sarah Marshall is also an advocate of architectural design education for all, but especially the young. Getting her start with teaching through Leap Architects in Schools and The Architectural Foundation elementary programs, she later teamed up with Dr. Shirl Buss to develop an intensive year-long program for architecture and sustainability education in elementary schools.
